The office of Reader in the Church is a lay ministry and in our parish it is open to all. With support and training, ANYONE can read in church. If you are interested in becoming a reader, please contact Fr Michael. We are blessed with good readers and we thank them for their ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Communion
Ministers are commissioned to serve their parish in distributing Holy Communion both in the Church and to parishioners who are confined to their homes. If you need this ministry please contact Father Michael
The musicians lead and accompany music at services and in doing so they greatly enhance the liturgy.
The sacristans prepare the Church for services and deal with the daily tasks of looking after vestments and sacred vessels. If you would like to join the team of Sacristans please contact Father Michael.
By assisting at the Altar alduts and children have a very direct involvement in the liturgy. For children, the ideal age to start serving Mass is about 9 years old, after they have made their first Holy Communion. As for all ministries, adults must have a DBS (for the protection of children and vulnerable adults as authorised by the bishop's conference of England and Wales).
Join us after Sunday Mass in the meeting room for bacon sandwiches, toast or just tea and biscuits. All welcome.
Leaders and helpers provide a range of activites for the young people of the parish. Parents are encouraged also to take an active part in these activites. There is a childrens liturgy team providing liturgy to children on a Sunday morning
Welcomers and Stewards
Welcomers greet people as they enter the church and provide them with service leaflets, hymn books, newsletters etc.
Stewards take collections, arrange the procession of gifts at Mass and, generally, are on hand as safety officers
The flower arrangers decorate the Church with beautiful displays according to the liturgical season and time of year.
The cleaners keep our church looking nice, every two weeks they vacuum the floors, as well as dust and polish the benches. This important ministry, which is easily taken for granted - is open to all and no special skills are required. We always need extra help, even if you can only do it occasionally, please contact the church office.
